Hacking MT and GW different how?

that's because nintendo changed their save encryption with FW 6.X, not really GWs fault, huh?
also I believe MT didn't even exist before that change, so obviously, they never encountered the issue of changing encryptions

You're missing that that post was a response to one that said gateway's naming was for compatibility.

I think Haloman800 is just trolling you all hard, he knows Gateway is better in terms of support. GW actually develops the original features and have a quick update response, and like others said MT card is just following GW .. and release the same feature 6 months later.

The savegame editing feature is broken on MT card, it does not support all the different crypto formats and their cheat list only has like 6 japanese games.

Gateway on the other hand has announced that they will support savegame editing, and if they do, they will do it properly unlike MT.

The same situation was with Multirom, MT card had a crappy HW button and was "FIRST" but it was crappy. GW implemented a full blown multirom menu which is very nice and 100x times better than what MT card had, but it takes time to implement, unlike a simple HW button.

So in some cases MT will be first, but executed poorly. Only when they see the GW implementation they will know how to do it properly.

That is how GW differs from MT card: GW innovates, MT card imitates

Any way to read 3ds rom file name and the ID name using batch or python?

Code:
import binascii
def get_titleid(file):
    """
    Return titleid for the rom at file

    Raises OSError if the file could not be opened.

    Raises ValueError if the file does not look like a rom.

    Returns:
      string: titleid as hex, like "0004000000008C400"
    """"
    with open(file, "rb") as f:
        # go to titleid offset
        f.seek(0x108)

        # read 8-byte titleid field.
        titleid_bytes = f.read(8)

        # reverse it to match 3ds.essh.co db
        titleid_bytes = titleid_bytes[::-1]

        # convert to hex
        titleid = binascii.hexlify(titleid_bytes)

        return titleid.decode("ascii").upper()

You can then extract the name, release number, or whatever from the XML. I have some scripts I use to batch rename and stuff. I can upload them if you're interested.

I bought the MT card from the guy selling. It cheaper quite a bit than GW.

Thanks froatsnook, your scripts can help me convert saves from GW to MT and back.

Nice job parroting Gateway slogans. You seem to ignore the fact that Gateway is in the process of plagiarizing features from Sky3DS (namely 9.X support), if you doubt this, why is it that mere days after Sky3DS was released, Gateway makes an announcement saying they're in the process of implementing 9.X support?

Gateway implemented code that bricks your 3DS Consoles. This is a verified fact.
Gateway has broken save support with their updates. This is a fact.
MT-Card has done neither of these things.

If you want a card that bricks your consoles and breaks your saves, get a Gateway.
If you want a card that has online support, MultiROM, 9.X emuNAND, cheat support, Get an MT-Card.

Sky3ds works on ALL firmwares, gateway claims to support only 9.X. If gateway were copying Sky3ds gateway would also support all firmwares.

MT-Card didn't exist during the time when N* updated save formats.

There have been no reports of a brick since the initial 2.0 release, excluding user error.

MT-Card took months to get 9.X emunand support - during which time you were unable to play online or even run popular games like Pokemon and SSB.

This is really simple stuff. I'm not partial either way, but one is objectively far superior.

Really, you criticize MT-Card for "stealing" from Gateway, then you defend it when Gateway does it to Sky3DS. Hypocrisy.It's no coincidence Gateway made their announcement mere days after Sky3DS was released.

Also it is very obvious Gateway is copying from Sky3DS, which is why they've instructed people to stay on 4.1-4.5. Most likely they will implement something similar to Sky3DS (10 ROMs only).

Not the point. Gateway programmed malicious code into their update to brick user's 3DS consoles. When you buy a Gateway you support this kind of behavior.

Incorrect. You were still able to go online before 9.X was supported (just not with newer games). Now MT-Card supports every 3DS game in existence.

I don't hear you whining about Gateway's lack of native 9.X support, even though it's already available with Sky3DS.

Then why do you defend Gateways bricking of user's consoles, and their plagiarism of Sky3DS features?

Why do you have a 3DS then?

Nintendo done the same thing. Intentionally programmed 4.2 on the Wii to look for something that was/wasn't (can't remember which right now) present on region changed Korean Wii's. Result was 003 screen, effectively a brick. Nintendo also lock you out of you WiiU if you don't accept the EULA of the new updates, effectively a brick.

When you buy Nintendo, you support this behavior. Yet you have a 3DS.

Proof...
Prove that Gateway stole SKY3DS' concept.

And that they didn't just both release because of the New 3DS launch in Japan (/ Australia)

Coincidence that Gateway made their announcement when they did?
No, I don't think its a coincidence... I think both of them did so in response to Nintendo more so than in response to one another.

Well now it has become obvious that Gateway is not 'stealing' from Sky3DS..... How about some more excuses?

The biggest difference besides the fact that the M-T card is a blatant rip off, is the button. If you like buttons and want something that is cheap and not very well supported then it's the perfect flashcard for you!

MT copied GW after their first release yes. But they are not clones. They just guilty of copying later on.

Also, I thinking that one day it MAYBE possible to turn MT into something like sky3ds since it has button. GW will never be able to be like sky3ds since no button.

Anyway, I happy with BOTH MT and GW.
