whoever is using the lappy, GTFO and let pven test, now report back!

Like i said my lass uses her lappy and it causes "problems"

So who ever is using the lappy, just tell them GTFO

Just disable them from the router settings.

The mentioned laptop is the laptop I am currently using.

I will test it later on and let you know if it works.
Top man, yea when i play files (divx) of my lasses lappy through samba it isn't good, playing off my PC direct, without any devices connected other than wii to router PC.....perfect!
test and report back matey, top man!

Otherwise the wii is getting crap speed from the lappy from the PC etc, get what i mean, when it's direct its good.

Just keep messing with the settings, you will eventually get it to work.....
I can;t really diagnose anyone's problems, it could be router firewalls, OS Firewall, spyware blockages, etc etc the list goes on....

I have windows Firewall on, had Nod 32 on awell, but that bastard removed some of my modified drivers in system 32 and deleted/cleaned my unzipped keygens, so i removed nod32

Been honest this smb samba is more XP/Vista friendly....

If you followed my tutorial step by step, you shouldn't have problems, if you do mess with your router/Firewalls, etc, just keep at it...

Dunno if this was discussed yet but here goes anyways.

Got SMB sharing working. No problem there.

I shared my TV Folder with about 3 layers deep of subfolders and everything works down to the deepest layer.

So I decided to ad a second SMB definition to the config file. Ran MPlayerWii and then the "Movies" share i created shows up in MPlayerWii. Browsed to the Movies share and I see the individual folders for the Movies. Inside of each movie folder is blank though.
So I decided to move the movies folder to be a subdirectory of the TV folder. After moving them when i opened the TV share in MplayerWii I see the Movies folders and the files inside them. When i tried to play them though they would not load. MPlayerWii would just stay at the file selection screen.

Now I left the file structure as is on the PC and removed the share on the PC side. I then recreated the TV share on the PC. Opened MPlayerWii and went to my TV share source and all the tv shows and movies show up in their folders and work now.

Something broken in the SMB network refreshing. As a pointer in the right direction note that by removing and recreating the share on the PC end makes MPlayerWii update it's SMB share file structure/buffer.

im trying to get it to work on my mac, with no joy. It lists the menu and i can see the smb listing to click on, but after a few seconds of saying network connected, wii is 10.0.1.6 it goes back to the top of the menu.

can i ask a couple of questions without sounding (too) thick?

firstly, do you have to use your external internet ip address, or your network ie 10.0.1.4 address?

Secondly (if you use the external ip) how does it know what computer on the network and what hard drive on that computer to go to?

That's a bunch of shit to me, how am i meant to know, How can you NOT know your OWN ROUTER ASSIGNED IP, Please help me understand???

Lol, yeha i understand you, BUT needs to be your ROUTER ASSIGNED IP, i believe yours is similar to the 10.0.1.4 one
Just make sure IT'S YOUR ROUTER ASSIGNED IP, not your Local Networks IP's

I'm now having similar problems, smb worked somewhat (laggy on full length vids, but ok for 30 min episodes) back in early part of November on my Linux file server/router. Since the improvements that work for some people, I haven't been able to access anything on smb, either on linux box nor on the vista desktop, just detects wii IP and then returns to top of menu.

Here is sample from mplayerwii.conf file.

the two entries for tv/ and Sarah Jane have not been modified, neither have the files themselves, simply updated the DOL, have also tried ti compile from source both trunk and gui branch

#linux
stream = smb://wii:P[email protected]/mediabin/
stream = smb://wii:P[email protected]/tv/
stream = smb://wii:P[email protected]/tv/The.Sarah.Jane.Adventures.S02E01.WS.PDTV.XviD-BiA.avi
#Vista
stream = smb://wii:P[email protected]/Movies/

That should work!!!!

stream = smb://
wii (PC username)
:
password Password of User
192.168.0.4 Router Assigned IP
/
Movies folder on root of any hard disc partition../

QUOTEstream = smb://wii:P[email protected]/Movies/
If you don't have a password, type this in config file......
stream = smb://[email protected]/Movies/

And yeah SMB isn't superb, due to Nintendo! BUT if you have a fast wireless connection like me, and making sure NO DEVICES ARE CONNECTED aswell, you will be able to use SAMBA perfect, i know i can I DO.......that's why i made this tutorial...

If you have slow internet? FORGET about streaming VIDEO, only stream Music
Have fast internet, stream video's, just make sure no other devices are connected through your router, it will slow the transfer down, and mplayerwii will lose packets, and could result in a crash/code dump....

I know it should work, in fact it used to work fine, but now just goes back to top of menu like others have suggested, only change is newer .dol file and replaced the cable modem (not the router or AP).

    i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
    It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

    Booo.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.
  • Veho @ Veho:
    There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
    But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
