Blerght, another crappy UNIX-based system. It's nothing fresh or innovative, it's the exact same core system over and over again. I have no idea why people can't see that the efficiency and performance differences will be minimal.

To be perfectly honest, I'm waiting for the very-first NT-based mobile OS. The current mobile devices are perfectly capable of pulling off "PC-Grade" applications, plus the miniaturization of hardware components already allows creating Ultra-Mobile PC's.

The future is in using the exact same programs on your mobile device as you use on your full-scale PC, and integrating both systems into a constant online network, sharing resources/storage included. Why have a 60+ Gig storage on your mobile device if you could just as well have a memory card and upload/download anything you want via 4G at high-speed?

I would say there's nothing in the OS's that would a *nix or anything else less capable in the ways you are on about using them. In fact in such a network dependent situation I really could really see one of the BSD's been the best option...

UNIX kicks arse man. Linux is a mess. And also kicks arse. Windows is a nightmare. And guess what that does to arse? Yes kicks it. And on modern hardware all there downfalls and upsides mainly level out out on the desktop or below levels.

While I agree that a UNIX-based system would be perfect for such a combo, I also have to underline that UNIX-based systems are not the current leading operating system. Windows is. To be truly popular, said system would have to be Windows-Compatible.

As far as Android is concerned, I sincerely hope it's going step-by-step towards such "unity". Afterall... t'is all Linux.

Explain to me why this doesn't have a GSM module? All it really takes is writing a GSM-controlling kernel for Windows and presto. OQO2+... so hot...

Mozilla launches mobile OS, Apple sues Mozilla over some sort of pointless "copyright infringement", for example the Menu layout, Microsoft does something stupid and unrelated, Android makes small adjustments, rinse and repeat.

Well, you have a choice between a refined system with on-going support and a system that's not even out yet and will be "hardly tested" the moment it's out, thus filled with bugs.

As I'm already thinking of getting an Android smartphone (because I'm missing on some seriously awesome apps), and I won't ever be able to drop iOS and Apple either, as I've got too many apps I love on it (that aren't available on Android).

The more competitetion there is, the better for the customers. So glad with this news. + Mozilla is a quality company IMHO, I'm really pleased with Firefox.
