Well, it should be possible..but..why would you want to? Looking at a screen that small for an hour would strain your eyes.

For train travel, if I don't feel like reading my book or playing a game - better than packing a portable DVD player.

I believe you can play movies from the SD card, but you'd need to split up the movie..into 10 minute clips. Not sure. But you can.

I have some Kirby videos that are in a cia format. But it could be possible. Someone would need to make a homebrew video player for the 3DS and then a windows/mac/android/unix/amigaOS program that converts the video player & video into a .cia or .3dsx file.

TBH, it might not be a bad thing to have really, mainly for 3D movies.

you actually even have a portable dvd player? is this 2005?

Yes, 4 of them in fact.

Samsung Galaxy S3
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1"
PSVITA
PSP

:P

edit:

I am well aware none of those actually play "DVDs", but you get the point lol.

We have few movies for example from Japan region, like the Sugar Rush 3D movie as .3ds file (couple of GB in size) it's an official release that you can find in that iso place. When launched it plays video as if it is played in Nintendo Video app (now discontinued).

If you carry a phone around then it's a lot less work to just watch on that.

I do remember watching movies on my NDS though back in the day. I think it was through some homebrew on an EDGE flashcart.

I have an 8GB phone,
And every time I want to take a picture I have to delete some first :-/ no room for movies or anything.

Well, just pick up a cheap OTG cable or an OTG USB stick, that's your best bet. There's no media player that's going to be released any time soon for the 3DS as far as I know.

Ok thanks. That's a shame! Would be cool if it could show glasses-free 3D movies one day.
