Misc Monster Hunter Tri WiFi shutting down today

It's not totally impossible to get online, provided somebody can find out how to simulate the server conditions using a PC.

I figure somebody is already working on it.

True, ought to be interesting to see if anything ever comes about. Although it would involve a lot of reverse engineering, then creating a patched version of the game that will connect to the alternate online system.

Not really, just simulate the sever settings and then change DNS settings in Wii to resolve to that IP. Simulating server settings not that hard, although I have no idea how to go about it.

They really should make a game save converter tool or something to transfer your existing Wii stuff to the Wii U version

EDIT : That might do a better job encouraging disgruntled Wii players to buy the new game :)

Uh, considering the Wii is pretty much blown wide open, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't want people doing stuff like editing the save file before transferring it over or anything, pretty much guaranteeing UBER-class gear.

Interesting. I thought there would be more involved, such as keeping track of who is online, sharing data between all connected users, who has what items etc. But perhaps this is all already in the game itself.
