Sorry but this is a joke. GBAtemp and its members will never be able to rival the monetary compensation from a big corp like Nintendo. Not to mention most of these guys aren't in it for the money.
And really for what? So that an exploit doesn't get released early to Nintendo privately? This is a fools errand since there will always be the cat and mouse game

I think it is fine that hackers get money from Nintendo in exchange for information on exploits.

The only problem is how we can make sure that the money will go to the developer instead of someone just stealing it.

We should provide Nintendo information of the rightful creator of each exploit, so the money gets in the right hands.

Though Nintendo sure wouldn't care who gets the money as long as they get the information.

If your going to do a Dev Exploit fundraiser just use bountysource.

Hmm. It maybe only for github issues though.?

hackers are already out there working on it so just leave them alone and let them do what they do. also

Well the known devs are working mostly without any payment, or are only asking for donations, a program that guarantees them some income would be nice for both the users and the devs. Devs can at least get some cash for their work, and users can get rid of the trouble finding every single dev that cobtributed, check if they allow donations, if they use a rather special platform to accept donations you have to create an account and everything else to make a single donation

any idea?

I've read through this a few times and I'm voting no, I remember the user that took the money for the 3ds project, we were set back many many month because of that. A lot of people were discouraged so I don't think this is a good idea. Maybe whoever hacks it can make their own donations page for parts or whatever but that's on them. Credit goes toward their name, if they think they need parts they will buy them on their own or ask for donation. We don't need to start something.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

WE also don't need to legalities behind all this screwing over users or gbatemp. Nintendo has their own set of attorneys, one slip up and everything is gone. Especially discussing it on their public forum

Were not talking about a money pool to help developper
We are talking about a money pool to give to a developper for releasing exploit earlier or public instead of to nintendo

The problem is that if said person makes money off releasing an exploit then he is making money off of Nintendos product. Plus how do we know that the right person would be taking it. Idk. It just all smells bad to me. I would rather donate personally than have an open pool.

You don't think we can come up with $2,000? That's the shit pay that Nintendo has been shilling out. Absolutely pathetic. They've even paid out bounties as low as a few hundred dollars. SAD!

I'll say the first step will be a website containing all donation pages of working devs, like maybe if they released an exploit/app, we can ask them if they are willing to join the website, also the website will contain there info and github, so that people can understand what they've done and appreciate their work by donations.
Not a great idea as I didn't spend much time thinking through it, but it'll sort of fix the problem of can't finding the devs donation page or the dev is just not as famous as his program

sounds good i like it

Just donate to anyone showing results. Like, what would stop anyone from saying they found a vulnerability, displaying it, getting the money, then selling it off to Nintendo? I'll only send money to clear results, nothing less. There's no way a money pool would work out.

XDA does this all the time with phones looking for root. Guess the user base is a bit more mature over there.
