Microsoft updates Xbox PC App for Windows to integrate third party launchers like Steam

After a few weeks of testing, Microsoft is releasing a new update for its Xbox PC App for Windows. This new build focuses on combining your games in one place by allowing users to add games from third-party launchers to your library. The update is being referred to as the "Xbox Full Screen Experience", and is centered around the upcoming Xbox Ally due out next month. A further update is due out later this month, which will add the ability to quickly resume your cloud-play games between Xbox, handheld, and PC.

Games installed from supported PC storefronts will automatically appear in My Library and in the Most Recent section of the Xbox PC app.

Prefer a more simplified view?
  • Select your profile picture
  • Head to Settings
  • Go to Library & Extensions
  • Find the storefronts listed
  • Toggle any listings you’d prefer not to see
Once disabled, those titles will no longer appear in your library, giving you full control over how your library looks and feels.

So what you're saying is that you caused the problem by messing around with permissions. lol

Your Windows fear mongering is absolutely ridiculous. The majority of things I've seen you say about Windows aren't even true.

That first part is shenanigans. There’s no reason for Microsoft to have kept Windows Apps (and by extension, games from the store) in a separate folder hidden under SYSTEM permissions. It’s not even a security feature, but a weird control shtick. Fortunately, they fixed this a long time ago.

Nevermind that being a ROG product, Asus will demand that armory crate be pre installed and running, and constantly botching things like it does on their notebooks.

Guh... Can't believe armory crate managed to make me think mine's keyboard fucked up enough to be forced to pay for Best buy subscription to diagnose it. I still can't understand how it even fucked up the keyboard when booting up a Hirens flash drive where it should have been isolated from the OEM operating system install.

This thing will flop

Microsoft has been mismanaging Xbox for 10+ year now
It really has. Unfortunately like most of gaming, whilst a lot of shareholders make bank, even when that's not the case, the CEO and cronies all make extortionate sums.

There's also fanboys and shills contributing to it's downfall, as they aggressively defend, blindly and can't think for themselves. Microsoft also employ a LOT of bots in various areas. They've also been using AI and bots to promote all new releases, pushing them as among greatest of all time, when usually They're not even mid.

I wish Microsoft would concentrate more on getting Windows 11os itself a lot better because it’s dreadful, regardless of this new cheap and nasty handheld Aliexpress lookalike rip off
it is going to get so much worse since they are firing the actual developers and now are relying on AI to do the most of the updates.

If they only let us launch Steam games from Xbox Series.... mine is still collecting some dust....

The whole point of this is for people to launch games while in the Xbox mode MS are adding to Windows (which can have a significant positive impact on resource usage purely by not launching the full Windows experience). People who are saying this is pointless aren't getting the context.

To me this just signals that Steam keeps getting stronger and that it fully survived the years of free games onslaught from Epic. The most pro-consumer platform continuing to grow is a win in my book.

Agreed and if they are jumping on the damn Handheld they should have made a cheaper better version of Wind 11 handheld edition with all the not needed crap removed and completely optimized just for pure gaming...

I'd rather want Microsoft to be forced into picking Windows 10 support back up.

Right now, I'm just picturing the Time Warner Cable dudes from South Park as Microsoft. "Ohhhh sorry that your PC can't run Windows 11. What a shame hmmmm?"

Microsoft slowly realising PC is a valid gaming market, tries to copy Apple by turning Windows into an AIO iOS.....

Gives us what we have already been doing for decades, craps out an agreement of a false advertised Xbox Handheld....

STILL fails to grasp in order for the Xbox to become a success.......

It needs NEW GAMES, not shit that everyone else has already done.

Something that can only be played on XBOX....

None of this is what users want, yet it'll follow more staff layoffs and cancelled games.

Microsoft never bothered about PC, now they've tucked up the console market, now they want to pay attention to PC.... it'll fuck it up as everything they touch goes to shit.
