i love MGS, it's been one of my favorite game series since the PS1 episode.

I remember back in the day i was an annoying kid and i didnt like playing any new games.
Then one day my friend FORCED me to try this and I loved it at once.
I even made a MGS3 fansite once [IMG]

On Topic: I got bored of MGS after Sons of Liberty. Forced stealth really doesn't do it for me.

    Away from civilization.
I hated MSG with a huge passion until my little brother begged me to play it.

I now own MGS1, Sons of Liberty and the 3rd.

I only liked Sons of Liberty because I got to do some er... "bare" flips >_>

    But I enjoyed MGS1 and MGS3.
I have one on Gameboy, but I don't remember what it was. I remember failing miserably when I had to use the Nikita(I believe it was, been so long), so I rage quit and let my little brother play(The boy is a MGS fanatic, literally) and of course, he succeeded -_-

If you just played through MGS4 you have probably unknowingly spoiled a lot of the plot points of the series, but the great thing about it is that it's not what happens that matters but it's how it all fits together. It's best to play each title in this order:

Metal Gear (MSX version on MGS3: Subsistence disc 2, NOT the NES version)
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (again, MSX version in MGS3: S, not Snake's Revenge on NES)
Metal Gear Solid (Twin Snakes on GCN if available)
    Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance
    Metal Gear Solid 3:Subsistence

It's best to go through the earlier titles first so you don't get too used to having the full camera control in MGS4 and MGS3: Subsistence. Also, if you don't want to play the 16-bit Metal Gears you can read the story in Metal Gear Solid.(I think the PSX version has it, but I know Twin Snakes does)

Metal Gear 2 is it's own game. Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance is just a re-release of Sons of Liberty with some extras such as VR Missions and five extra stories staring Snake entitled "Snake Tales" but they're not canon. So, if you just care about the story just get Sons of Liberty since it's probably cheaper. Although the MGS Essential Collection includes MGS1-3 and it's a pretty good deal.

Although there's a GameCube remake of MGS1, I recommend playing through the original. It's the superior imo. Sure it doesn't have the graphics of MGS2, but that's really all it has going for it. Voice acting and music was better on PS1. Plus, it has that retro feel.

    Anyway, my favorites-
    Metal Gear Solid 3
    Metal Gear Solid
    Metal Gear Solid 4
    Metal Gear Solid 2

In that order. I don't dislike any of them, it's just I like some more than others. I haven't finished Portable Ops or Ghost Babel. And I haven't played Peace Walker or AC!D 1 or AC!D 2, so I can't make opinions on those. But I really enjoyed MGS1-4 and they're some of my favorite games of all time.
