Last year I played a retail MP3 and got near the end, but then stopped and haven't played since. Now I found a PAL iso which i changed to USA and tried to play, but instead of using my old save file, it creates a new one. My wii memory has 2 save files that look identical (but i knew which was the old one so i deleted the other one)

I thought saves were region-free, is there anything I can do to fix this?

Are you sure that Wii save files have no region?
I know that other consoles, for example the PSP, have save files that need to match the region of the game you're playing. Perhaps try downloading a USA save file to see if it will read that one over your old one.

I know for a fact saves aren't region free on the Wii at least. Like, for Guitar Hero, I have an NTSC and a PAL save file.
