This looks cool, I would much rather have a sturdy metal DS than a flimsy plastic DS. Who cares if it adds some extra weight, I don't. I don't know if it's the whole DS though, I think it just might be the top.

I'm sure they would make it a light metal and not super heavy metal. But still heavier than plastic.

I don't know, less than $8 in price is too cheap for whole metal casing..(so I guess it's just the top)..But that's great, I doubt it gets smudged or scratched as easy as plastic ones..

Metal is a conductor, plastic isn't. It's much more dangerous to have a metal shell.

Swapping your case is almost never a good idea anyway.

Well, I do believe they made it plastic from the inside, or isolated it somehow!!
But I can't help myself getting a feeling that this might lower wi-fi strength (I know it shouldn't from the technical point of view, but....I don't now)..

All in all, I don't know if it's practical, but it LOOKS nice..

Swapping your case is almost never a good idea anyway.

It sure isn't if you don't know what are you doing, and lots of people don't know the first time they are doing it..
But if hinge breaks, you're forced to change the case..

I agree on that..It's almost impossible to regain the same sturdynes on case, as the factory build it..When you once open it up and swap case, it will always be (even a bit) lossier than factory product..

And yet, I modded my NDS Lite just for fun (and I'm not sorry)!! But I have crimson/black too, which I would never open!!

I had to open my spare DS for several reasons, mostly that it wasn't under warranty and the top case was broken (It belongs to my 4yo brother) I'm now in the process of trying to fix it into the new one and found out I was missing the correct screwdriver(besides the trigram). So now I have to wait a while. As far as changing cases goes though, if you got LUCKY when changing it your first time and aren't confident, chances are if something goes wrong and you need to change it back to it's original case, you're shit out of luck.

A problem I've noticed recently with my black nintendo DS is that the serial seems messed up. (So I'm questioning if they'll repair it, but hoping they will)

Considering the engrish in the rest of the description I think they just mean it's got a metallic decal on it, not that the whole case is metal.

Indeed "metal adorn slice" sounds like something you'd get out of bablefish when trying to translate "metallic decals"

Yea, I was skeptical as well. Maybe it's just a piece you put over the top of your DS. But now that you mention it, it does look like decals.

seems to have some of it inside too as you can see with the top mario which is open.

Well, it surely makes more sense than being whole metal casing..
I think it's time that proper matte casing is made and released, I wonder how come Nintendo never released any of them..

And, when I think about it, the metal casing (even very thin) would add to weight, and while it isn't that much of a deal if NDS weights a bit more, it would put too much of a pressure to hinge mechanism, making it easy to break or wear out sooner (the very same mechanism, not plastic around it)..

Well, I don't know have you ever opened your NDS, but the hinge mechanism is some little thingy that looks like it would snap right away..it only holds on one place and it's located on the right from microphone and left from power and charge diodes!!

I think it could break if harder pressure is put on it..
