How do you tell if a MSPD is a fake? Does it just feel different or something?

pretty much always in the PSP you hit triangle and it will say magic gate not supported means its fake

there is also the cheap quality, cheap clone packaging from real sony packaging, no warranty, no support, tendency to corrupt data, very short life span, etc...

They have 8gb Sandisk MS produo's for $31 at walmart now, i got one instead of the 4gb since i think i'll need more than 4gb of space is i want to have any music at all.
It's quite a deal for buying one for that at a retail store i guess considering the one on newegg cost the same after shipping cost.

i bought a photofast 16gb off ebay for 59 AUD. works great. you really dont need that magicgate technology

Get a Photofast dual MicroSD adapter and a couple of MicroSDs and you'll have a cheap and fast MSPD.
MagicGate is only required for magic memory stick and is completely pointless otherwise.

Or to use Timemachine that will fail on a Photofast also.
Other than that you will not need magic gate support.

I also suggest buying one of the Photofast adapters got one myself here.

And I do not really notice a difference when playing on the PSP.
I do however notice a difference when writing to it via the PC.
But that should not mather as the reading speeds are ok.

Nah you do not need it.
I use a 2GB fake Sony Magic Gate not supported to boot ChickHEN on my 300x.

Have not tried it from the 16GB photo fast one yet but there is no need to do so as I swap card after booting into GEN-A.
But Ill try now as Iam bored anyway.

Nope can not get it to work with my photo fast card.
After trying with the photo fast card it took me upto 15+ tries to get it to work again on my 2GB.
Never gonna try that again lol.
