Hacking Mega Man 11 music modding

It's a multiplatform game so internally the assets and structure will probably be the same.

This is what my AI overlord said about how to go about this :
  • Dump Game Files: Use a homebrew tool like Nxdumptool on your Switch to dump your legally owned Mega Man 11 cartridge or eShop file as an .NSP or .XCI. [1]
  • Extract Archives: Extract the dump on your PC using tools like hactool or NSC Builder to locate the main data folder (.arc files). [1]
  • Unpack the .arc Files:
    • Use FluffyQuack's Arctool to unpack the specific .arc archive that holds the sound or music files.
    • Locate the specific BGM or SFX file you want to change. [1, 2, 3]
  • Format Your Audio:
    • If you are changing music, convert your custom audio to stereo, with a 48000Hz sample rate.
    • Ensure the exported audio matches the game's file format (typically .sngw or .wav format, depending on the asset). [1, 2]
  • Repack and Install:
    • Repack the modified folder using Arctool back into an .arc file.
    • Place the finished .arc file on your Switch's SD card in the atmosphere/contents/[TITLE_ID]/romfs/ folder. The Title ID for the Switch version of Mega Man 11 is 0100788005A32000.
