I've tried with both Chimp 2.4 and Chimp 2.6, it gave me a: this drive does not support the ATA security spec.

The Hard drive is a Maxtor 320GB IDE 5A320J00816d3. It said on http://xboxdrives.x-pec.com that it was compatible, some said no. Anyway i can lock the drive?

If i were to do the TSOP flashing would i need to keep the softmod (using Softmod Installer Deluxe) i have the current xbox, or would i need to unsoftmodded? I am fairly confident i can do the TSOP flashing. Also i have already cloned from the original HDD to this new HDD, would i just use the new HDD when doing the TSOP flashing?

What version is the xbox?
And when you have flashed it you can unsoftmod it but it isn't needed

Well i don't what other versions are there, i know for a fact it isn't a v1.6. I can see the TSOP is HYNIX hy29f080t-90. How can i tell which version my Xbox is?

It won't flash at all.

I downloaded a bios checker before flashing to see if the soldered things correctly, and it says

CHIP TYPE -> MODCHIP (or unknown homebrew)
using genuine BIOS -> 4034 Retail
BIOS MD5 Hash -> (a lot of numbers)

did i not do the soldering correctly?

Why did you download bios checker? (It's a useless step)
Just download HeXen 2017 and try flashing the bios.(That is how you check if your soldering is good)

it turns out i had a cold solder point, i was able to flash the tsop, after backing up my stock hdd eeprom, i put the new hdd in, installed the necessary dashboard and success. It works great. However, it added extra menu items to unleashx like XMBC and the applications menu is buried in the options, i liked the way unleashx was when i installed it using the softmod installer deluxe 5.11 final. Is there any way use that dash version (installed by SID 5.11) instead of the unleashx dash (installed by hexen dvd)
