depends what you mean by "hacking". Are you referring to cheating? Save editing? Replacing models / textures in the rom itself?

That just makes it very difficult, not impossible.

It is a pain though, currently trying to hack Style Savvy and there is zero info about anything and very few of the files in romfs are easy to work with.

IIRC, it's one of those games that uses .bin files for everything, and encrypted ones at that.
