Hacking Mario Kart Wii - Custom Distributions

Use Wii Backup Manager to convert the .iso to .wbfs on your desktop. Then transfer the wbfs to your usb device also using Wii Backup Manager.

first time i tried that it kept on booting the original mkwii .wbfs backup. i then tried changing the game id only for it to boot to a black screen then freeze.

Hard to say what is causing the issue...

-possibly your original MKW is causing your issue meaning it was not ripped clean...

-the conversion process didn't build the iso correctly...

Try reinstalling "Wiimms WIT" tools to you pc, i have wit-v3.04a-r8427-cygwin64 installed, (it is required for this to be installed).

Also install Dolphin on your pc (if you haven't already) to test the patched iso. If it isn't working through Dolphin, it is a faulty iso. If it is but still not working through Wii, it is most likely GX, WFL, CFG issue.

The Custom Track Distribution Maker is compatible with both Dolphin and hardware, I'm pretty sure. Me and my friend play on a track pack I made full of just our favorite tracks, and it's a very user friendly program.

Getting this error with USBloaderx.

"Build ISO RetroRewind.bat" did not have any blur options. How to disable the cheat codes?

Yes, i got that error when using the RR ISO Builder on 6.1.7...there is no known fix for it as far as i know.

It is a shame because the final wbfs file size is much smaller than using the linked method. The linked method works without error but i see 6.1.7.1 was released and have not tested it yet.

This error i think may be isolated to RR since doing 25-30 different mods, this is the only mod i have seen with the cheat disable issue.

Try the attached method on OP.

Thanks, does it matter what the wsb file is called? I have tried the method in OP and got black screen, will try again.

Hello again friends!

Got back into the swing of things about 10 days ago regarding updated releases.

Many updates to cover...

Mario Kart Wii Deluxe 10.0 has been released, a beautiful update with brutal difficulty. I have played many sessions with no code dumps...Pulsar seems to have been optimized.

Retro Rewind has been updated, and ISO Builder works 100% for me (USB or SD can be used). I love this distribution! Small & Clean with many additions to make the game New.

RetroMix has been updated, but in my builds, neither the dedicated ISO Builder or Riivolution ISO Builder works...Bummer!

Luminous distribution is now Luminous Redux. This has a dedicated ISO Builder as well, but it does not work for Wii USB loaders. However, using Riivolution ISO Builder will work. Great distribution of top custom tracks, old and new.

OptPack has been updated. A fan of the earlier distributions, this keeps pace of newer top tracks and the great tracks of the past. I love this distribution but again, the dedicated ISO Patcher does not work for Wii USB Loaders, you must use the Riivolution ISO Builder.

CTGP-R Classic now has an ISO Patcher that works 100%. This distribution was last updated in December 2024, but it is without question one of the best distributions to play. Using the dedicated ISO Patcher reduces the game size nearly 2GB from the Riivolution Patcher.

Lastly, Yosh's Track Pack has been updated. The Riivolution ISO Patcher works great again for this distribution. I have played this quite a bit since I don't know many of the tracks. Very well done with plenty of tracks.
