Hacking Mario Kart 8 update failure

hello! I downloaded Mario Kart 8 plus the update that popped up, and then used the WUP Y installer I believe it’s called to install the game and DLC and update to my hard drive. But now when I try to play it, it says “Preparing Update” and then it says it cannot update(DNS is blocked) but I already install the update so why is it prompting this?

EDIT: my brother did play a disk version of Mario Kart 8 on this Wii U before I did the soft mod if that’s makes the difference.

EDIT 2: Think I got it working. Just went through NNU Patcher and downloaded the update from there
