Mario Kart 7 UI tutorial?

I want to make new UI for Mario Kart 7 [specifically, replacing the 3, 2, 1, Go, Finish, all the placements, and the ui item box box] so I can change them to the brand new Mario Kart World UI, but there are no tutorials on how to do such thing for MK7, can someone help me please? Also, I try to make the UI, but then I get an error as shown below when I load a race. [For context, I was trying to change the "3" bclim, rotated it and made sure it was 64x64 and correct ETC1A4 format, BUT IT STILL AINT WORKIN]

Is this something other people have already done? Or are you trying to do something no one has done before?

Does it work properly if you don't make any changes? Or if you make a different, smaller change?
