meh........its mario kart again.

your right, but the thing is it is fresh, like mario kart wii. Bigger multiplayer lobbies, better graphics, and the portable platform make this game highly anticipated. I'm definitely getting it at some point and if it's like Mario kart wii, I will finally have a reason to play my 3DS again :P

I'm a little surprised at the lack of enthusiasm in this thread :P

I am very hyped, to the point that I placed my pre-order for this a few months ago. I was blown away by the demo at Hyper Japan, and the recent videos of it look amazing. I like the fact that they really concentrated on the details this time around, being able to do so many customisations to the racing environment, karts, and also the 8 player wireless! Battle mode also looks very very enticing, although I wish they put in block-fort from the N64, that ate a few years of my life I think.

I'm jealous!! D:

I'm hyped for:
The awesome tracks (JUICY TWO RAINBOWS)
The music (it sounds awesome)
The cart variety (IKR)
The characters (I never knew wriggler will be in)
The drifting (and that speed boost)
The items (7 at a time? Holy s**t)
The...

Basically I'm hyped for everything in the game

I added some videos of the retro cups to the first post, There are also vids of the newer levels but i didnt wanna spoil you guys with those ones tho just yet ;) but you can search them on youtube with "Mario kart 7 mushroom cup" , "Mario kart 7 flower cup"

It's just another MarioKart game. Why all the hype?
Uh.. dude... All the Nintendo first party game re-uses characters. "Oh, it's just another Zelda game" "Oh, just another Kirby" BLABLA dude. It adds something new. Now I do agree that hype is a little bit overdone but still, your point is invalid.

Thanks to manuel1984 for finding one vid of the new cups also iv dug out one other cup and are shown here

If you dont wanna see the new tracks then dont click the links (Spoilers obviously)

[edit] Also not to tempt you too much but footage of the new rainbow road is here and it looks AMAZING!

apparently handling/sliding is like on the wii version, you can't quickly generate MTs again.

dunno about anyone else, but that's the ultimate hype killer for me :(

everything else about the game looks amazing, but that's like the single most important thing in regards to the gameplay.

Rainbow road looks good but

I'm in 2 minds about the 3 stages as opposed to three laps of the same circuit. It allows for a very cool an interesting circuit but there's something satisfying about nailing 3 great laps in a row - taking each corner a little better each time around. All of which is lost in the stage format. Unless there's a way of unlocking it so that you get to play the WHOLE course 3 times. That would be bad-arse!

I think I figured out why they made it so you can't be out by losing all your balloons in battle mode.
That tanooki tail would screw over so many matches, that it would just be hated to death.

I actually wasn't too excited about it at first, but now that I've read a handful of reviews I'm seriously considering it. Sounds like the 3D is done well and it has the right balance of courses and gameplay tweaks. Little disappointed the roster is cut down from 25 to 17 (no dry bones?) but oh well.

Cant wait for this game, one of the games i was anticipating when i first got my 3DS at launch. (Along with Paper Mario 3D)

I LOOOVED Mario Kart DS, but i wasnt very fond of Mario Kart Wii (It felt broken? I mostly just played it with friends as opposed to all the random races i did on MKDS)

I loved Mario Kart DS, it was practically flawless in terms of gameplay, but I always felt that it really lacked in graphics, which I loved about Mario Kart Wii. (Well, the graphics weren't that good, but they were the best MK has ever had.)
This one seems to combine the graphics of Mario Kart Wii with the epic MKDS feel. I am boner.
