20 Stars is all you can apparently get without using the A button. Wow there are a lot of glitches in the game.

The third star is probably the coolest thing I've ever seen in my life.

What is this non-sense? Was one of those an extra star?

He was moving the camera so terribly. [IMG]

    Two things to consider.
[*]Movement is not interpolated between frames in videogames like it is in real life.
If a character is in one position one frame, and another position during the next frame, they do not occupy the space between. They just jump from one location to another. Doing this in small steps at a rate of ~20+ FPS gives the illusion of smooth movement (a basic of animation). The catch is if the character starts moving too fast then the space they cover per frame might become larger than their collision/body. If this happens then it's possible for a character in a game to literally skip over a wall or thin obstacle because there's no point in time where they actually come into contact with it. The faster the character moves, the potentially larger/thicker obstacle they can skip across.

[*]There's no automatic "brakes" or speed limits games.
It's up to the programmer to add speed limits. Thing is many games have a limit missing somewhere that a programmer forgot to put in, either an honest mistake, or they didn't anticipate something would be possible. In many cases movement is made so that while a player is holding a direction, their speed increases and once it passes a certain threshold it's set back to their max speed. This is an effective movement because it means the character will start from a sandstill, and when the player tries to move them they'll move slowly for a second and when they reach their top speed they won't pass it.

However, what if it's not the player's joystick moving the character? There's other things that will move a character, such as moving scenery or knockback from an enemy. If the player manages to get stuck somewhere where something is constantly trying to push them away but can't on it's own (such as getting stuck in a really tight corner or a wall), their velocity will increase by a large amount each frame. If the user is holding a direction (as most players will be doing in an attempt to free themselves) then the code that checks for and limits the speed comes into play, and when the user gets unstuck they just jump out or something like normal... but if they're not holding a direction that limiting code never runs, and the character's speed keeps on increasing. When the player does free themselves by jumping out or something, they'll often find themselves shooting away at a much faster speed than they can normally obtain. So they made use of point number 2 (getting stuck over and over in the moving bridge as it was rising) to build up their speed until they could pull off number 1 and literally jump over the wall's position in game-space.

I wonder if this was tool-assisted. It very much seems like it is. [IMG]
