I just read this on ign and was wondering if it's possible for the Wii too and if there are people interested to do this? (which I hope)

November 1, 2007 - Just three days after its retail release, the PlayStation Portable version of Rockstar Games' ultra-violent Manhunt 2 has reportedly been cracked by diligent hackers, opening up full-color death scenes removed from the game at the Entertainment Software Ratings Board's request.

According to posts on a number of game modding and hacking web sites, those in the know can make changes to a few lines of code in the game, effectively removing portions of the black-and-white filter Rockstar placed over the offending scenes in order to bump the title down to a Mature rating from an Adults Only rating.

"We're aware of the issue and we're looking into it," said ESRB spokesman Eliot Mizrachi.

IGN received this statement from Rockstar parent company Take-Two Interactive today:

Multiple edits were made to revise Manhunt 2 for its M-rated version.

Hackers apparently have altered one of those edits to produce an illegally modified version of the game that can only be played on an unauthorized, modified PlayStation Portable handheld system.

All of the game material, and especially these specific edits, was submitted to and reviewed by the ESRB in accordance with requirements regarding disclosure that were enacted two years ago and any contrary suggestion is inaccurate and irresponsible.

Take-Two Chairman Strauss Zelnick said, "I stand behind the game and the ESRB ratings process. It is unfortunately the case that no one in the entertainment software industry is immune from hacking. We hope that consumers will not engage in hacking or download illegally modified copies of our games. We encourage them to enjoy our games as they are meant to be played. We would also like to emphasize that Manhunt 2 is intended for an audience aged 17 and above."

Manhunt 2 has traveled a rocky road to release in the U.S., earning a modified rating in August after Rockstar agreed to put filters over the game's intense death animations. The game remains banned in the U.K.

Posters on PSP hacking sites say YouTube videos of the secret scenes are already being removed from the net. And they say they're already working on revealing the scenes in the PlayStation 2 version of the game.

Unfortunately for us this will not be possible on the Wii unless a true system wide modchip is introduced. Reasons:
1. The disk contents of Wii game disks has yet to be successfully cracked into in any meaningful way yet.
2. Even if we could change the contents of the disks there is a digital signature on Wii games that would be broken if anything was changed, and then the game wouldn't run.

Once we break the digital signature requirement someone will undoubtedly hack the disk contents, but until both of those steps are taken we shouldn't even worry about if the censored scenes even still exist on the Wii games even if they do exist on the PSP games.

What a shame
