Hey all, I'm new to this site and to the scene.
My 3DS has had a long life and was very well loved by me until its big brother, the Switch, came along.
My poor 3DS was neglected, cast aside to gather dust, as my new handheld console was more graphically capable and had amazing games, proving that you could have your cake and eat it too, as far as handhelds go. Or so I thought.
One day I decided to play some Fantasy Life on the good old 3DS, as it still remains one of my favorite adventure rpg type games. But as soon as I opened my zippered case, I realized I had misplaced the cartridges for both zelda and mario maker! I tore apart my apartment looking for them and they were no where to be found. I looked into finding ways of recovering the data, and I found out that hacking a 3DS and getting homebrew software on it was easier than ever. I read the whitepapers on the hack and I loved how the community is so open about sharing the information they've found. I loved the process and had a blast opening up the encryption on the device.
After recovering my lost cartridges in the form of roms (I own the software licenses already) and installing some homebrew software, getting a seperate flash cart for DS games and more fun stuff, my switch is the one gathering dust. New life has been breathed into my poor old 3DS and now it comes with me everywhere, just like when I first got it.
