Hacking M3DS Real or M3i Zero for DS Lite

I'm going to buy a M3 card (for the RTS) for my DS Lite and run Sakura. Is there any advantage in buying the M3i Zero over the M3DS Real.

Was it dead on arrival?
If so, contact the webshop you bought it from and ask for a replacement.
