I don't think I'd want to buy another piece of hardware for this, since there are occasional problems running software on the DS (freezing and data corruption, etc.) If I really needed a GPS, I'd probably prefer to buy the real thing - the hardware is all designed just for that purpose, so it should be much more robust and reliable. Many GPS systems already have touch screens, so no new benefit there... I guess I fail to see why this is a good idea. Why not work the other angle - homebrew games for your in-car GPS unit?!
That way, when it directs you into the heart of rush-hour traffic, you have something to keep you entertained... and it can't be any more dangerous than all those idiots trying to text and drive, right?
