The reason that the micro sd to sd reader doesn't work is cause you are missing the driver. You can get from microsoft or the company that makes that sd reader. If you have software installed called bigfix then you shouldn't have any trouble at all.

installing a driver wont make it magically SDHC compatible

That would make sense, my laptop is over 2 years old.

yea, the one in my printer doesnt work or the standalone reader
heck even my phone which I got last oct didnt support it
