So yeah, sorry to bother you guys with such ridiculous questions.

So I was playing with my newly hacked, unbanned and cheaply purchased New 3DS mint condition :yay3ds: and I activated the Clock+L2 option on Luma.

I was playing Zelda OOT and I didn't notice much of a difference if any, on framerate. I know that is because the game is probably capped at 30fps, but my question is:

Regarding this, does the Luma Clock+L2 feature actually downclocks in games that are capped?

What I mean by this, is that from what I can tell, my battery charge doesn't really depletes any faster using Clock+L2 while playing Zeldo OOT. Using this info, I could think that maybe there is some kind of downclocking going on?

Any theories or knowledge would be gladly welcomed, yes, I am bored  but I really would like to know this, I just don't want my 3DS to get overly hot for no reason, etc.

Cheers guys!

From what I know, it constantly stays at that, but if you disable it in luma config, it would be automatic.

We would have to have some kind of log, etc aplication to actually know what happens there. Is like when some graphics cards undervolt/underclock when not being used much. Maybe the same thing happens 3DS wise, even when using the clock+l2 option.

Cheers.

A guy did a battery check with different luma config and there was almost no difference.

It was something like 5% shorter on highly performance. (To lazy to look for the topic but kinda sure it was on GBATemp).
That might be why you don't see the difference.

Regarding the usefulness of the overclocking, I chose not to activate it a while ago.
Games that need it still has it and if you see any framerate issues on other games, you can activate it manually. If you don't, then there's no need to activate it right?

Regarding OoT, there is an easy way to check. Just press L+Down+select during a party and set it up as you like in the new 3ds menu.
