Download v1.1 Here

v1.1:
  • Game Types Screen
  • New Game Prompts
  • Map Editor Popup
  • Dojo Menu
  • Wireless Menu
v1.0:
  • Fixed the Header
  • Options Menu
  • Map Editor Menu
  • Pause Menu
  • Level Complete Menu
  • Game Over Menu
  • "Default"/"Classic"/"Pop" Design types
  • (A)/(B) Buttons
  • "WiFi" -> "Wireless"
v0.2:
  • Header Name "???????" -> "LodeRunner" (Broken)
  • Main Menu (Clean)
  • Game Menu (Clean)
  • "Lode Runner" -> "LodeRunner"
v0.1:
  • Header Name "???????" -> "Lode Runner"
  • Main Menu (Dirty)
  • Game Menu (Dirty)

What I will try to "translate"*:
  • Main Menu -- Done!
  • Game Menu -- Done!
  • Game Types Screen -- Done!
  • New Game Prompts -- Done!
  • Options Screen -- Done!
  • Map Editor Menu -- Done!
  • Map Editor Popup -- Done!
  • Dojo Menu -- Done!
  • Wireless Menu -- Done!
  • Wireless Popups -- Cannot seem to find.
  • Pause Menu -- Done!
  • Level Complete Menu -- Done!
  • Game Over Menu -- Done!
  • (A) (OK)/(B) (Back) Buttons -- Done! ...I think (Alternate/Inverted copies and an "X" button found)
What I most likely will not do:
  • Walls 'o Text
  • Level Select (nothing to really translate)
  • Save Progress Screen (nothing to translate but "Lode Runner" and "Save Data")
  • LodeRunner Dojo Tutorials (they are 'watch then do')
*NOTE: I do not speak nor read Japanese.
By "translate" I mean 'edit the graphics replacing the Japanese words with English words from the NTSC-UK translation'.

v1.0 (my next release) will be out as soon as I can find the Pause Menu file, since I can knock out a Menu screen in about 15 minutes now.

I didn't intend to 'translate' them, but I found the A and B button icons:
Button_AB.png
(enlarged 200%)

Along with that, I found inverted/alternate color buttons but I cannot find them ingame.
If you have seen them (possibly a highlight?), could you please tell me where you found them and/or send me a Save file if it's at a certain point?
I have DeSmuME and No$GBA and can convert if you played on a flashcart, so any file should be fine.

Also, I have found an X button. If you can find ANY version of this could you please tell me where you found them and/or send me a Save file if it's at a certain point?

Additionally, if you can read Japanese could you tell me what it says?

v0.2 works great (v0.1 didn't result in a proper ROM)
Thanks a lot for investing your time and effort into this little gem.

I'd still like to find it ingame so I can label it properly, so if anyone comes across it please let me know!

Got the Pause Menu 'translated' this morning, which means v1.0 will be out soon.
I also found some extra lines in the file... but I can't find them ingame. Done.

v1.0 is up, and I'll be taking a break from this for a day or two.
Up next is the Dojo Menu and the other half of the Pause Menu that xdarkx translated.

I think the rest is minor, so it may be another week or so before a new version is out.
If you have any specific screens you would like translated that are not already listed in the "may" and "will not" translate sections feel free to request them (attach an image AND instructions on how to get to that screen if not VERY obvious).

- Go back to Dojo
- Go back to Editor
- Go back to Title (Screen)
- Go back to Stage Select
Thank you very much.

Compact Lode RunnerThanks.

QUOTE(DJPlace @ Nov 3 2010, 10:41 PM) is wi-fi local or online?
Pretty sure it's local.
I messed around with it and couldn't find any WiFi settings or online options.

I changed it to read "Wireless" since I think Wireless = local / WiFi = online cuts confusion.

I just been playing offline, and they give you a few bots here n there on your team to help battle. I don't think it's as funny as the other games tho, more battle oriented than humor, which kinda sucks, but I'm still early in it
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, doesnt the game have a campaign mode?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea, and co-op, but you can also start a pvp session and battle just with friends. You get special skill cards (powers) the more you play. And higher value cards, but you can only enable so many cards at a time.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
If you can find enough for it
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Toilet paper is considered the money, you collect and buy stuff with TP, kinda funny. Graphics are def better than the other games tho, I think they used Unity 5 engine.

I bet most people at the time still watched it in black and white
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Many of them did before colour television was common.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Likely because black and white TV was in-expensive.

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
It certainly wasn't inexpensive it cost the same as a new car back then
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
How much did a 1965 color TV cost?

For example, a 21-inch (diagonal) GE color television in 1965 had an advertised price of $499, which is equal to $4,724 in today's dollars, according to the federal government's inflation calculator.

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@K3Nv2, take into consideration how economy was back then
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah that's why they listed inflation rates

    Sorry didnt read that part
