Locking Bookmarks in new Firefox?

Anyone know how to lock the Bookmarks to the sidebar setting for the new Firefox? I have to now click the Bookmarks tab and then select "View Bookmarks Sidebar" each time, whereas before it would always open in sidebar.

Personally I have used keyboard shortcuts for years (ctrl and B by the way https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/keyboard-shortcuts-perform-firefox-tasks-quickly#w_bookmarks ) and would probably make a macro or something if it is gone.
That said have they lost the sidebar command (added some point in the not too distant past) https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/use-firefox-sidebar-access-bookmarks-history-synced ? Such things seem to have appeared there.
