You shouldn't defrag solid state, that uses up a shit ton of read/writes, you're reducing the life of your drive by doing so.

Defragmentation isn't needed in non-physical read/write type drives. The 3DS has fast access already without having to move a spindle or arm, same with an SSD in a PC.

Lmao, never use that defrag of windows. I use the defraggler from piriform.
defraggler also does something similar for SSDs. but i'm assuming you didn't know this. it's not the same as a regular defragging though. you should never do a regular defrag on a SSD.
I do a defrag on my SSD every 4 months. Or when i get 50% or more.

Yup. Defraggler does the same thing, they even say so in their documentation of it. Google it if you want.

But I doubt Defraggler is letting you "defrag" - anyways, if you really are forcing a defrag on SSDs and other flash storage, you are shortening it's life. Again, you can read the articles already linked, or google them and get more informed on yourself.

Bcs i know hot to take care of my PC. And this PC has 4 years so 3:
apparently you don't know judging by all you're saying. you've just been lucky you've happened to used the right programs. everyone else in this thread is right, you are wrong. deal with it.

Check your SSD health.
You should be able to estimate how long before it fails.
he says he's been using defraggler to defrag it, defraggler works with SSDs and doesn't do a normal defrag. so his SSD's health should be fine. out of poor dumb luck

Decrease life of my SD? This SD have 3 years with me. And i do it a lot of defrags lol. What a stupid reason. I do defrags to all my hard, sd, and etc drives. And never (or at least) dead.
It WILL decrease the lifespan of your device. Why do you even defrag flash storage? Don't do it. It might not have died, but it will, and sooner than mine ;)

Anyway, do whatever you want. If your cards die, it's your problem. Why'd you ask if you do it anyway.

with defraggler or built in windows defrag its fine. but a lot of defraggers don't check or aren't modified for SSDs. it will fuck them up.
can you even call SSD optimization defrag?

i suppose its semantics. what is defragging a HD if not optimizing a HD? names old terms are often reused for new tehcnology even when they're not exactly accurate. but you're right of course that's its not a real defragmentation.

Sure, defrag is HD optimization, but I suppose SSD optimization =/= defrag. ya

Lets face it - if he thinks defragging SSD's is possible and viable we can say with 99.999999% certainty he does not have the skills that are required to properly maintain a 4 year old rig which probably in itself already have parts that date back much further. That is to say, that he didn't get the latest and greatest 4 years ago.
