One of these will make your life easier. They're hosting panels like cPanel. I suggest starting clean before installing one though. That way you won't have to mess around with the web daemon. They'll also handle the DNS for you.

You really should have set the server up without a gui. You can use a remote ubuntu gui distro to set the server up. Dont use videos from youtube either. Hit the ubuntu forum. There is some great documentation on setting up. Also, you will have access to some great linux developers.
If you are going to cheat with a gui at least do it remotely.
