Valve have just released the earlier promised Left 4 Dead update, which allows for easier downloading and playing of third-party campaigns, along with the first stable release of the Left 4 Dead Authoring Tools.

lol to MO, i guess the news was true then, again this game is totally played alot and a new version would cause a bit of a conflict with the older one but i think it would be better to release 2

if i am not mistaken there may be a lot of things yet to add to this one but seems tht version 2 will cause a little delay to tht and the proof is CM's comment tht he waited a "long time"
 
Well if you want to use custom campaign maps, you still have to download it manually. By manually, I mean going to the website with the map, download it, and place it in the addon folder. Yep, basically we get the ability to play downloaded maps, but we have to manually download the maps outside the game. Can't just download in-game.
