possibly due to screen variations? my 3DS is dual IPS

no. the resetting happens because either the Home Menu or something else is re-reading the config for some reason resetting your temporary settings. also, the screen brightness is limited in power saving mode.

oh, so thats why it was resetting for me then, but in my case, when i have powersaving mode enabled, moving the sliders in the program doesnt affect brightness at all, only when it is disabled...

power saving mode caps the brightness at a very low point, that's why :P

Love being able to expand the brightness, but it seems like the smallest thing will drop it back down to a default setting.

For example, moving the 3D slider.

Soooo... u didnt do it in the end, didya

yup, I didn't manage to fit it in. but I might've found a way to do this on the old3DS too in a way that it might even be possible to somewhat fix some screen discoloration problems on defective display panels. and the good thing about this method is that it would only reset on screeninit, so you kinda only need to run it one you power the 3DS on

I really would love to see this! I have a dual ips n3dsxl where the temp/gamma are mismatched i love the displays but the 2 different temperatures are maddening. I hope we get to see a permanent/semipermanent solution to have full control over our screens' color calibrations soon. Keep up the good work!

Features
  • change screen brightness individually, even outside the allowed limits (screen toast warning!)
  • (new3DS only) color corrector hardware config for f.lux-like effect

Umm... that's it

f.lux-like effect (again, new3DS only due to missing hardware in old3DS):
  • turn on power saving mode
  • set the color settings
you can reset/turn off the effect by turning power saving mode off

Yeah, don't use this. Search for "CTR_Redshift", and use that since that relies on the GPU instead of power saving features. Also, it could be merged into Rosalina any time soon.

Does anyone have tips to make tweaks persist on 11.8? I love playing with the way increased brightness.

This is a very old and obsolete homebrew. The new version is called CTR_Redshift, but it doesn't have physical brightness adjuster. It's sadly not possible to make the brightness stay more than a few seconds on a new3DS without patching gsp.

So I just found this, but the settings dont seem to be persistent, a simple reset or even opening an app resets it. anyway to keep it always?

Don't use this. Use CTR_Redshift instead. As for keeping the brightness, you're out of luck until someone comes up with a gsp patch which doesn't crash gsp.
