When it comes to power consumption...
LCD power consumption is about: 250W average
Plasma power consumption is about: 350W average
These numbers are a rough estimation of that of an uncalibrated 42" TV.
When calibrated properly to your liking they are as followed...
LCD power consumption is approximately: 100W to about 150W
Plasma power consumption would be approximately: 150W to 200W
Values can differ depending on many different factors...
Also when buying a TV you have to take into account of lighting situation of the room. As most plasmas usually have a reflective screen where as most LCD's have matte screen which handles glare on the screen much better.
The perfect calibration can be very different per person as well as the room situation.
