Custom means anything that is not a stock Nintendo ios. Modmii comes with a one size fits all system menu IOS that works with all system menus, is patched and works with RC24, it is based off of a stock ios60 and modified. But (Un)installing the wrong ios to your system menu IOS slot can brick u, such that u could only recover with bootmii boot2 (or a nand backup and nand programmer like an infectus, which is super rare these days). In fact even a stock ios80 or ios70 can 003 brick a poorly region changed wii that was originally Korean, so you may not even be safe with a stock ios

Thanks for the information. Does it mean after I installed the suggested cIOS from ModMil, I can use YAWM to install SystemMenu for other country directly?

If u want to region change, use modmii's region change wizard. Don't guess
Any Region Changer does not change the system menu language. I prefer english system menu but currently is japanese. I guess I need to install System Menu for other region?

this would be part of ModMii's region change wizard, among other things. So run ModMii's main wizard (sounds like you already have), then afterwards run ModMii's region change wizard

region changing is not as simple as installing a new system menu, if you do this and only this you will probably brick yourself

Got my third wii arrived. All do not support installing bootmii as boot2:cry:. So I will pick one a try region change soon

Btw, someone shared these chinese systemmenu wad, I may try it also.

Received -2011 error when installing cIOS80—v64—v16174.wad and SystemMenu—v512—TWN—WHITE—2012.wad. In the video, the WAD manager is using IOS58-v6175 while I am using IOS58-v6176. Not sure if it is related.

Finally got a Wii with bootv3, yeah. But still error -2011 when installing cIOS80—v64—v16174.wad and SystemMenu—v512—TWN—WHITE—2012.wad. Does IOS58 need patching?

Thanks for your advice. It shows that MIOSv10 is missing. I suppose it is related to GameCube only?
After install it, I can get IOS80—v64—v16174.wad and SystemMenu—v512—TWN—WHITE—2012.wad installed.
Really an exciting adventure

I just realize that actually YAMMM and MMM work differently.
Correction: I still cannot use MMM to install them for unknown reason, but YAMMM works
**In my another post, I have to use MMM to upgrade from 4.2J to 4.3J, then use YAMMM to install "SystemMenu—v512—TWN—WHITE—2012.wad"
