The lucky few among us that own both a Sony PS3 and an Xbox 360 must have recently asked themselves: for which console should I buy Rockstar's new superproduction L.A. Noire? Leaving aside the current PlayStation Network issues, the question can be reformulated as on which console does the game look better?

An in-depth comparison was recently published by our friends over at EuroGamer, coming with picture galleries, high-definition videos and lots of technical details.

Based on this comparison which version would you say is graphically better?
Does this heavily influence your choice to purchase the game on one platform over the other?

The consensus of just about every gaming review site sides with the PS3 version -- unlike RDR. It has better framerate, sharper shadowing, and two less discs, lol.

I just got the 360 version so I guess I got the short end of the stick this time.

I'll probably end up buying it on the 360 (not having a PS3 and all)
waiting for a price drop... i dont mind buying games late.

I have to admit that on some textures the PS3 version looks a lot finer

And why wouldn't they side with the lead development console?

I went with the PS3 version myself, not for graphics alone just because it seems to run smoother and I'm glad I did though I doubt anyone would have any complaints with the xbox version either seeing as there's not really much of a difference.

360 Games price drops rather quickly

.
Hopefully not too long wait for you lol.

I myself will probably buy for the PS3 once the price drops

. Amazon is crazy, who knows when they are gonna put 66% discount all the sudden on LA Noire lol.

im facing this dilemma

i can pirate it on 360, but i respect rockstar and their games and this really does deserve a purchase , so dunno still torn between if i should just ignore my morals and pirate away or get it for the PS3 (which is strictly only for online gaming and exclusive games)

"hurr, teh grafiks are bettur"

I think this doesnt influence people's desire to buy it. I think the game stays the same, and that like 69% will /dontcare about it. But for some reasons, the shadows on the Xbox 360 are poslished, while the textures on ps3 are finer.. i dont see any diffrences except from that tbh.

Well, if you want to play it that badly, just go ahead and download.
I could download it for the 360 aswell, but I aint dying to play it or anything lol.
Will just wait till price drops.

Disc changing is something to keep in mind. Its not the fact that you gotta move your ass and change the disc, but its just annyoing.

No, I too am wondering why this was even front paged.
if you can get it on either systems dont you want to get the best of both?
that, my friend, is the point.

I would prefer the softer shadows, they look more "new".

In many games the graphics are separate from the gameplay, but in games like this that specifically set a mood and tell a story, the environment itself has to match.

Except the differences are so minor it is unnoticeable. All these discussions lead to are fanboy flame wars on other sites that have posted this exact thing. (Kotaku, etc.)

Eh. Don't care about graphics too much myself, the game is more important. However the one thing that always gets on my nerves on the 360 version are the shadows. They're horrible, pixelated (especially when examining something) and jagged. Uggh. X_X Otherwise, it's fine.

Would be so funny if a fanboy was like OH [INSERT CONSOLE HERE] HAS BETTER GRAPHICS, then the maker of the post is like, actually i put the opposite name of the picture for fun

No I understand this mentality, a lot of people would want the 'best' version, however it is just odd that this was on the front page. I mean I can understand it being in the forums but on the front page just seemed odd. It's no different from any other discussion about which multi-platform game has better graphics on a particular console.

When I watched the video on the site, I noticed at a couple of spots the texturing was better on the PS3 version then the 360 version. One spot was the grass at about 3:50 and the other was the flower painting on the wall at about 0:40. But overall, I really didn't notice much difference between the two.
