Hardware Kind of need some help. Confusing question,

Right now the way my PS3 is setup (and the three others I have in varrying conditions.) Is I have an account my dad made on the PS3, and ever since then growing up as a kid (I was around 7, and more years went on as the PS3 got more popular.) I used his account for the most part.

The only confusing thing is that we both used this account to purchase software and various things on the PS Store. I didn't think much about it before but were kind of in a situation to where the PS3 has DLC, games, content. And it also has movies, TV Shows, etc... My dad didn't do a lot of gaming on the PS3 but he used it a lot to watch movies and TV with PS Vue.

I just looked around the internet and looked to see if you can transfer game content or DLC, and you can't. So my only option would be to make my own user account, move into his user account and use it, or share it (with limited functionality.)

The only digital purchases I have tied to the account are LBP 1, Split Second, Castle Crashers, Scott Pilgrim DLC & game, a s$it ton of LBP 1, 2, and 3 DLC. Specificly some of the DLC I have is considered "rare" and no longer sold in the PSN Store, i.e; The Incidibles Pack. Which stopped being in the PSN Store around 2013, and a old PS Plus membership (its expired but when I got the "3rd console" it came with a year of PS+ Membership.)

What should I do? I don't want to lose all my progress and purchases, but I also don't want to have to tell my dad to make a new account for PS Vue & other movie stuff... Would I also be able to change the users name or birthday if we do manage to agree on something?

My understanding of Playstation Network is that multiple devices can be attached to the account, like a PS4 and Vita, for example. Would it work if you gamed under your dad's PS3 account, and your dad used a PS4 or a PC with the same account for PS Vue?

That would work, but he will be using the TV at some points and using PS Vue requires you to have a subscription and be signed into PSN.

So essentially if I were logged into the account he uses and he started watching TV I wouldn't be able to get in PSN (or him.) Unless he uses another account or we manage when we get on.

It could work but the last thing I want to do is be in my 20's or 30's calling to see when he might be using my account or debating when to use it along with adding funds to the account. Right now its not a big deal becuase we live together but I know once I start getting more devices, become more active on PSN, or even move out on my own then it may become a problem.

If the subscription can be canceled and if I can change a few things like the email the account uses, password, and some important stuff. For the most part I think i'm going to be fine but i'm not so sure about the complete transition yet.

My opinion is that you should have a PSN account seperate from your father's. It sucks that the games you want to save are linked to your dad's account, but that will be a moot point once Sony closes the PS3 store in a few years; your father will be unable to redownload games he bought.
