Remember Killzone: Mercenaries? It was revealed at (I want to say) Gamescom last year but its been a bit under the radar until then. Well now you can officially get hyped (or the opposite) as another gameplay trailer, screens, and a release date for the title have been revealed.

On September 18th, you can pick up Killzone: Mercenaries. It comes with a reported 6-8 hour single player as well as 6 multiplayer maps with 3 modes. You can check out the gameplay in the trailer.

The game is developed by Guerrilla Cambridge (formerly SCE Cambridge) best known for the MediEvil franchise as well as the more recent LittleBigPlanet for the PSP. They also contributed to some titles like Heavenly Sword, the Wipeout franchise, and Killzone 2.

Because portables are just this one type of platforms that's always overflowing with'em - what a pain! It's not like Dual Analog fixed most of the problems related with shooters on portables or anything.

Seriously though, I see some BALLIN' potential in this one... if it doesn't end up just "looking good on the trailers", this might be a definite purchase for me.

This topic isn't focused on me last time I checked. So stop your assumptions and get back on topic. Vita has more shooters cool, it's great for some fans.

    Let's hope it's a Thrillzone.

...Get it? Because, well, I took the "Kill" and I, uh...

    Alright, I'll be going now.

I'm not a huge fan of Killzone, but this looks pretty good. I might pick it up.

Ugh, September 18th. That's a long time to wait especially with the current Vita game drought.

But it looks good. Not really a fan of Killzone but it looks to be a competent FPS.

Killzone is an interesting franchise and I've liked the previous PS2/PS3 games. As I don't really play multiplayer besides local co-op, I hope they've got a good single player campaign ready. Not sure if I'll pre-order, but it looks good nevertheless.

You did ask a question you know..
But anyways on the actual post, I'm actually quite surprised at how few FPS games the console has. Currently there is only 1 pure FPS game (Black Ops) and about 3 incoming (BioShock, Killzone and Dust IIRC). Action adventure is another genre and most are TPS games (like Uncharted, if you will).

To be fair, your post did come across as sarcastic heartgold.

Bioshock is essentially vapourware at this point and Dust was only a companion app for the PS3 version (that already came out), not an actual game.

Western devs really don't give a crap about handheld systems.

You said the exact same thing about the Call of Duty game a few months prior - development takes a while and according to the interviews I've read, the studio didn't want to start before Infinite was complete and they needed a "Green Light" from the higher-ups first, which doesn't make it vapourware, it just means that it doesn't exist yet. If anything, I'd expect to hear more about it next year.

It's not even in development. Hoping for a release when nothing points to one now is delusional.

I wouldn't give too much to Bioshock. It's still possible but to say it's an "upcoming game" or anything along those lines is stretching it.

Be optimistic but don't be delusional. Not that I care for Bioshock, I thought the first game was crap and apparently the second one is worse. Infinite looks bad as well.
