Even if he can/could who cares if he won't share it with the public? Oh right, nobody. More importantly I never stated he can't, but fact remains he never DID.

A couple screenshots here and there, over a span of a couple of years and exactly 0 releases. Why should we pin our hopes on this guy?
he is the only one with something in his hands...

What you meant to say is he's the only one showing a couple of screenshots. Because within the scene, actually a couple of people actually have access to the kernel exploit. They just aren't that vocal about it...
He's by far not the only one and I personally have my money on of the other guys.

Waste of time and money.

So would I be OK if I updated my console tonight to download a game? What's the latest firmware now? Is it still 5? Want to make sure I'm still on a exploited fw

Latest OFW is 5.0, but everyone and their grandmothers know that nothing will be released for quite some years

Yeah I know that....I may have to just get another HD drive and replace mine so that it'll stay below 5fw (hoping if I replace it back the fw will go back to it lol) otherwise I'll just gale a cheaper ps4

No, PS3 was jailbreak after 4 years and it was alive until 9 years later total of 13 years lifespan. :creep:

Well maybe in terms of when they turned off life support, but PS3 was only current generation for 3 years after the jailbreak and for a large part of that you had to buy an expensive dongle which Sony were getting court orders to stop imports into some countries & then get hold of hacked eboots.

11th November 2006 Sony release PlayStation 3.
1st August 2010 commercial psjailbreak dongle lets you run backups on 3.41 OFW, however it was reverse engineered and cloned from a review sample before it was put up for sale.
6th September 2010 Sony releases 3.42 OFW which blocks dongles, you now started to need hacked eboots for new games.
30th December 2010 failoverflow reverse the signing keys
8th Jan 2011 geohotz releases 3.55 CFW
26th Jan 2011 Sony releases 3.56 which prevents you installing firmware updates signed with the old keys
9th March 2011 Sony start shipping unhackable consoles
20th August 2011 commercial Cobra dongle released, lets you play newer games on special 3.55 CFW. Not cloned, so cheap pirates were stuck on 3.55.
28th October 2011 commercial Trueblue dongle released, lets you play newer games on special 3.55 CFW. Not cloned, so cheap pirates were still stuck on 3.55
22nd October 2012 4.21 CFW, no more hacked eboots. game over for Sony.
15th November 2013 Sony release PlayStation 4.

Dont until the developer said its okay. However, its up to you.

I'm asking because I got a code from work that needs to be done asap so why I asked because if not I'll have to buy a used ps4 for dirt cheap. Either way I'll wait a day or two. But I wanted to know if I put in a new HD will I be able to update that HD to new fw and then go back and put in my old one below 5.00fw and still have that old HD be on the lower fw?

No, you can't. No matter what. No. FW is relate to motherboard and not the hard drive at all. Once you update FW to motherboard then thats it. Nothing you can do about it. :)

Still means nothing to the rest of people, provable or not. PS4 scene is now just like US politics, only tweets and not real stuff.

That's the issue. It's fine that devs don't have to release their work (end users are not entitled to it) and I don't have a problem with that.

I just get annoyed with all the social media clickbait bullshit.
