Yes. When you are doing a system format, your NNID gets "unlinked", not deleted. It is still linked to your console, you just have to login again.

dont know where you got your info from but using official system format in system settings forces you to relink your console to your nnid. tinyformat does not unlink, thats what it is made for..

Unlinking from Nintendo's servers = Not linked to your console anymore

The System Format just deletes NNID data. You just have to login again. And you can't login on another console with your NNID.

yes you are right, not the kind of unlinking that the initial question question was aimed at though.
and you cant login again if you didnt do a system format so lets call it log out from servers or something.
