Hardware Just installed WiiKey v1 in D2B, doesn't work

why don't people just solder these? d2b is easy enough for a 5th grader to solder in and also I don't trust those clip things because ICs always have oxidation on the legs and I doubt anyone cleans them before installing the wiiclip.

I've built a strobe light, alarm clock, binary timer (all the stupid stuff they make you build in high school electronics to prove you know what the parts do), stun gun, etc from scratch and I'm still nervous about soldering things to an expensive system. I'm sure you can get low-heat soldering irons but I'm always very paranoid about frying a chip. That's why I'll likely look for a solder-free option if/when I chip my wii.

Plus the points are so small and close together it gives you an even better chance of frying something! Plus I heard that there's a point you have to solder and if you hit the point right next to it, you'll need a new disc drive.

A big

to Sylvester at ModChipCentral. The chip was defective and he sent out a new chip. I paid a bit more and picked up a D2pro9 v3, presoldered to clip. Received it in late last week, hope to get it installed this weekend, if I can tear myself away from the Xbox (Play from hdd has made it addictive again). I'm just hoping I don't need to solder the additional wire that came with the chip.

Edit: Installed it today. The first time, the red light was constant and it inched the disk. I took it off and reseated it, and it started up perfect!
