Hardware Just bought a AGS 101 GBA...

It seems to have ""burned in" marks and the corners seemed to be washed out. This doesn't bother me too much but is it fixable? And should i worry about the screen dying out or will it be fine?

I think the washed-out colors are a result of mismatching the screen type with the ribbon cable, the burn-in bits seem disconcerting though. No real idea what that translates to, but it's certainly less than ideal

Yeah that's what im worried about the screen eventually not working. But i just recieved it today. and i don't see anything else wrong with it besides that so hopefully it will be okay until i will be able to buy another modded one!

Not tech savvy with this sort of thing. So me repairing/replacing the ribbon cable is a no go.

Well, good luck with that. I just bought one but that's a new mod so hopefully nothing crazy like that, though I'm sure you probably got a better deal for yours if you bought it like that (I'm assuming because your post is from thursday). Either way, can't go wrong with a good gba so have fun with it. Also, nice choice of color, indigo is my favorite.

Yes i bought it for 80$ seller said it was passed down from another buyer he got it from.. i got it with pokemon sapphire and final fantasy tactics on a auction bid. The only downside about it is what i pointed out and it kinda looks washed out. but hey still pretty good deal too try these out. Im seeing them go for 180+ for a brand new modded one which i will eventually get .

It's hard to tell from the screen shot, being white text in a black background. If you're talking about the different 101 screens, one kind does need some additional mods done to the GBA board to get it to look right. Maybe there are cables now that compensate for that-- it's been a while since I did these mods. But I never saw anything like what's going on in the corners. It could be a worn out screen, or maybe sloppy/incorrect mod work.

It's definitely a worthwhile mod though. I always liked the original form factor much better than the SP. Since I modded my original model, I almost never use my SP anymore.
