It was when the scoreboard packed in at 47 games apiece in the fifth set that you genuinely began to fear for the players' sanity.

When France's Nicolas Mahut and the USA's John Isner strolled out on to Court 18 just before 1400 BST on Wednesday to polish off their first round match, two sets apiece, barely anyone gave them a second look. The first set had lasted 32 minutes, the second 29. "A quick spot of tennis," you can imagine a spectator saying, "and then we'll pop off for lunch."

Just over seven hours later, the score locked at 59 games each, nobody would have been surprised to hear a Red Cross aeroplane drone overhead and start dropping food parcels.

Isner + Mahut (wimbledon) 2010
Legends
Congratulations to both of them and to Isner for finally Winning that 11Hr+ Match

The Scores (3rd and 4th Sets Tie Break):
1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th
6-4 3-6 6-7 7-6 70-68
Tie Break (7-9) (7-3)
I'm lost for words really.
It was an incredible match, so many records broken by these 2 amazing tennis players in one match.

For those of you that don't know much about tennis:
Mens Singles - 3 Sets Required to win.
Sets 1-4 if resulting in 6 games to 6 7th game is a Tie-Break winner takes the Set.
If The Match goes to 5 Sets players keeping player as usual, if the game ties at 6 all they STILL carry on until one of the players is 2 games ahead of the other.
The Average Match Lasts between 2-3 hours.

This 1 Match went on for over 11hours and across 3 days.

I have to say this aswell:

Congratulations to the Umpire of that match.

Yesterday he didn't go to the toilet or eat or anything for a like 7+hours, that's what I call dedication. Along with that he made some excellent corrections and good judgement on the balls he called out.

It really was an incresible match.
If you didn't watch it and have just over 11hours to kill I suggest getting your ass online and looking for the match, you won't regret it (well you might after being sat on your ass for 11+hours

but at least you can pause it unlike the players when they were playing).

it was mainly becuz in the 5th set, isner was tired and mahut had run out of hand strength
then isner won points on serve and power shots will mahut kept on running around and delivering good serves which isner was not able to move towards
i saw it on ustream and it was very interesting
