Does SSBB (PAL or NTSC-USA) work for on Jap Wii (Wiikey)?

If so, does it need to be dual layer?

I have a SSBB NTSC-U Dual Layer and it works on my Jap Wii with WiiKey.

I've heard that scrubbed Single Layer versions worked as well.

Mine was single layer (both NTSC-U and NTSC-J versions). Both worked.

if anybody has tried,,does an original SMG works with an up to date japan wii?

An original SMG-J on a Wii-J? I see no reason why it should not work.

no an original SMG-u

I have a japanese wii thats 3.1J. No idea what mod chip I have, someone else bought it for me in asia. It was great when WiiBrickBlocker would solver everything but it doesn't anymore. I know its not a wiikey because the config disc doesnt load correctly. I've tried a couple things but I cant get SMG to work (some turcha stuff) and Mario Kart (WiiBrickBlocker) I even tried to dl freeloader, which doesn't seem to work. Do i really have no options left? I can't get any of the newer nintendo made games to work. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks

before anything else, this is only for japanese wii owners with the WiiKey modchip installed, like me..

what i did to make most of the latest games work is:
1. update your wiikey to 1.9s (search the net for links)
2. also get a copy of the latest config disc for wiikey to TURN ON region overriding
3. use a new game to update your firmware to 3.1J (i used Mario Kart Wii NTSC-J) and make sure you're using an NTSC-J region disc
or use the wii's update in the settings to update to 3.2J (not for those that are semi-bricked)
4. Now read the Region Patcher Compatibility List on this site on what to do to .iso's before burning them up to dvd's.

these steps should make sure you'll be able to run the new games..

SMG (non-jpn version) requires drive code patching (001...)

MKWii requires that you have firmware 3.1v2j installed
(it comes on jpn smash bros...)

If you have not installed smash bros jpn then you will get
a black screen at boot for mkwii...

EVEN IF YOU HAVE FIRMWARE 3.2J! (wifi update...)

as a side note
mariokartwii jpn has firmware 3.1jv3 on the dvd
but the pal/ntsc-us version will play with firmware 3.1v2j

Hmmm...I'm not really sure.
If you have the latest 3.2J firmware, it might be safe to try out the original disc.
If it does prompt for an update, simply remove the disc.

yeah but i cant waste my money on something i cant play cause its like very very pricey here i just want to know if anybody already tried it

nope, it won't work. safe your money.
must be patched first.

i thought it only needs to be patched if it's a back up?

I just used the generic wii patcher to remove the 001 error on SMG-USA for my NTSCJ wii. I put it in and it started to update so i immediately unplugged it. I shouldn't let it update right? Mines wii is 3.1J. Will Brickblocker do the trick then?

Just reporting: Speed Racer is working fine in my japanese Wii + D2CKEY + 3.2J.

You need to use WBB on the ISO.

And... It is a good game. Great visuals (really impressive), good gameplay and some new and cool things (like rivals and aliances on the races).

The game is multilanguage. There is a option with brazilian portuguese. I think that's because Petrobras is sponsoring the movie (there is a car for Petrobras on it LOOOOL).

LOL.

dude, at least, you read the compatibility page.
smg us needs 3 patch.
1. the 001 error but most chip fw could bypass it already.
2. it need the language patcher
3.wbb
so the problem with original is the second patch and wbb. it must be patched so it recognise our ntsc-j wii as ntsc-u wii.

ahh this is why most wii utilities should be converted to elf files and patch it while it's loading

or we really need a custom firmware that unlocks the region

Okay, so i have a Single Layer (and completely functioning) NTSC-U SSBB. What do i need to do now for it to be playable? I have already updated my Wii firmware with the Jap 3.1v2 update, am i fine to just brickblock it and go?

I have d2ckey btw.

I installed the update from SSBB (JP) then just brickblocked SSBB (US). Ran fine without any problems.
awesome- thanks.

i tried but cant install 2011 on lost winds and 4011 on FFCC

i found a R.F. lost winds i m gonna try as soon as it downloads

ok I am a newb at all this wii modchips and I also have a lot of problems!

I recently bought a modded jap wii from hongkong but im not sure what modchip it has (maybe d2c ones coz its new)

My friend gave me a few ISOs (some pal and some ntsc-u) but Super Mario Galaxy(pal) and Zelda Twilight(pal) don't work and give me a black screen after I load them from the menu. I also use the wii brick blocker.

Can anyone please help me on this issue? Thanks!

Edit: I also have the ntsc-u SSBB (compressed) and its size is the same as the other games (4.7gb). I heard it uses dual layer but because of its size, do I really need to use dual layer discs??

if you search around youll find alot of these questions already answered

for the heck of it,,your SSBB is a single layer one (no movies)
