Issues with controllers on Nintendont

Hello, recently I acquired some generic PS3 controllers and figured I might be able to use them for my gamecube games, however every solution I have tried and tutorial I have watched have failed to get them working. When I plug the controller in after the gamecube game has booted, it flashes the controller lights a few times, then the gamecube game freezes and the wii shuts off. I have tried all the controller.inis as well as the controllers.zip and nothing seems to get them working. Ideas?

Not sure why the system would shut off, but I don't think Nintendont likes certain third party controllers, like the fake pro controllers.
