I have an issue with the circle pad on my new 3ds xl, the circle pad seems bad calibrated, with an incorrect default position, i buyed a new one and changed it, but the problem persist, first i mind that the new circle pad is defective too, but looking on the calibration screen, can see that the default position is exactly the same on both circle pads, i don't know where is the problem, and no, using the calibration tool doesn't helps, only give me an error, someone have any idea of what happens? Thanks :(

What error are you getting when you try to calibrate it?

When you replaced the circle pad, did you also replace the base module? It looks like this.

Download and install 3DSident-GUI. While in that homebrew app, press (START) + (SELECT) at the same time to pull up the 3DSident Button Test.

What are the resting values of your Circle pad: ####, #### ?

Have you tried formatting the device?

Make a backup first of course.

Yes.

Yes, I only replaced the base module, I'm going to download the app now.

Resting values are:

-068, 0080

Your X coordinate: -068 , is one significant figure too high. It should be around -0068 or -0006.

When you replaced the Circle pad, did you also replace the rubber thumb cap?
I think yours is sticking to the shell and throwing off the resting inputs.

If you replaced the rubber thumb cap, did you also make sure to replace the gasket?

Edit - Full value ranges for X and Y (approximately):
  • X: -155 to 155
  • Y: -155 to 155
Your X is at around 43% preload tilted to the left.
