I've never really leeched any copyrighted material at all, only some TV anime episodes, and thats pretty much it. I'm lucky however to live in a country where my ISP doesn't even care, my friends have filled up HDD's filled with ISO's of all kinds. I don't think there are any laws in Lebanon preventing me from downloading...Lebanon FTW!. the only problem is that some ISP's here limit customers internet if they use P2P

....file hosting services heheheehe

I just saw the scan, looks serious, piece of advice, change your ISP.

My ISP contacted me by letter alerting us of a second offense for illegally downloading wii games! It says to contact them within 10 days or get the service shut off... I am like freaked out because I have never gotten one of these before. What is going to happen? Any suggestions to what I should do? No more downloading for me!
How did you get a second offense when this is your first letter?

QUOTE(smash_brew @ Apr 20 2009, 06:46 PM) Peer Guardian 2 is the way to go. I used to get these letters every couple months. Now i get nothing.
PG2 has its benefits and downfalls. How do you get letters every couple of months and still have your internet connection? ISPs usually tolerate 3 offenses--I heard they're more brutal in the UK with 1 or 2.

I am not going to change isp. I am hoping they will just say not to do it again. We'll see in an hour or so when my parents call.

Let us know what happens, although chances are if you act stupid, nothing will happen, but either way let us know.

I know how to spoof my network cards MAC address
I know how to change my routers MAC address
But my cable modem has it's own MAC address - I dont think you can change this one

*They called in that MAC address when they turned on the cable modem - probably to authenticate incase someone "stole" a bunch of cable modems and gave them out. Only can be activiated by a call in

Good luck with what you do. Let us know what happens.

Of course u can spoof ur modems mac address google TMac Mac address changer. it does just that.

Oh dear... Someone else fooled by Usenet...

why do you say this, people seem to love usenet here? i never used it but i'm thinking about it

Also to all the people in this thread that say they work or used to work at ISP's is there any possible way to make the ISP not know what your doing, does spoofing your mac address like some seem to claim really work? should I just use usenet or rapidshare?

Yes spoofing works but it is illegal. In is like a souped up proxy....you are masking yourself to others but you are not fooling your provider.

You expect pretending to be somebody else is ok or the answer? Shit, you will get in more trouble doing that (cough cyber terrorism cough)! DO something illegal to do something else illegal.....that is great.

well see there isnt anything to do, the fbi are on their way. hide under your pillows and make em some sammichs.

why do some of you or most of you use torrents to download games.i only pirated like 4 wii games.i never got a letter and when i feel like pirating a game its a game i want to play but don't want to buy.besides i tried to get a pirated game before from a torrent the download was to slow telling me it was going to take like 400-1000 days to download can't remember the exact number of days but its around there.anyway i never used a torrent to download one wii game fully downloaded it just takes to long.

EDIT
i rather buy wii games more than pirate them.

Maybe thats because you dont know how to use a computer properly. if you torrent right it should take no more than a day to download a wii game.

Just depends on your connection speed and where your getting the torrent from and how old the torrent it.If its a newly released game you can get it in no time but if your going after a game thats been out 6 months chances are you won't find many seeds for it thats why your getting the long download times.

Even on public torrents i can still get the game in usally 1/2 day tops if that.If its seeded well i can get it in as little as 2-3 hours.

Also private sites are better but some are hard to get into like Ntorrents. Its supposed to be a very good torrent site for everything nintendo, but you probly have a better chance finding bigfoot then a ntorrent invite.

3.The "I have wireless defense?" Guess what, your ISP also will have records of your MAC addy. If the MAC address on record matches your comp's, you don't really have much of a defense anymore.

that is not true. Packets do not contain information about mac address beyond your router. This has been proven over and over again. Act stupid. It's the best way out to be able to continue downloading. Remember to say you "can't afford a technician to secure you in this economy."

I have done this for YEARS. No problems ever and I torrent more than most other people for everything available out there.
I agree! Change ISP...and take care!

the torrents i tried before were like games that been out for a while but still where i get my games from its better than using a torrent.i get better speed no matter how long the games been out.

you guys are silly, your telling the guy to say that he is on unprotected wireless so it's all good...

do you guys know what's a MAC Address?

if they want the pc that REALLY did the downloads is easily traced (i do know what i'm talking about)

All they'll know is the MAC of his router, unless they somehow hack into his router. And MACs are easily spoofed anyway.

bolex, they know all the MAC's connected to your network including router
