look into benchmarks read reviews etc and build your own computer and it will be the best you can get for the price

Cons: this thing would not work at first. i mean windows would keep closing and i could not load starcraft 2. it would crash half way through every time.and there was a page that said only 4 cores were active. why would i buy a 6 core prossesor to only have 4 running. guess i should have bought it locally.

Looks excellent, but I find it quite expensive actually. For that price you could easily build a better system yourself, although I agree that can be quite terrifying if you've never done that.

Best graphics at the moment is the GTX 580. It costs around $100 more than a HD 6970, which is third best. The HD 6970 also doesn't use quite so much power.

Bleh... I wasted about $1K on an HP computer less than 2 years ago with identical specs except for that graphics card. A few weeks ago I decided to build my own PC and am kicking myself for not doing it sooner. Going the DIY route you can increase that i7's performance by 50%. If you're just looking to play the latest games though, you're really ovespending here. Get a cheaper model and upgrade its graphics card

And to think that I don't even need 50% of the power of a stock Core i7-930. Well, not yet at least - all I do for now is play games and use the internet. Core 2 Duo will last me a while yet.

Yeah most people can get by with a stock i3 and have plenty processing power to spare, hence the overspending comment... You can save even more money by going with AMD! The i7 is just for performance freaks. If you do lots of compressing, encoding, or PS2 emulation, it's a no-brainer, and you'd definitely want to OC it for the extra speed (impossible on HP)

yea but if you want to game on it, AMD is not really suited. You could then better buy a i7 920 and oc it, even though it's expensive.

I thought the i7-920 cost the same as the 930, and now the 950. They overclock to the same point, but the stock speeds are higher.
