It's not impossible, but is not easy either, Sony really did a good job in not letting anyone hack their systems (Unlike a certain company with a red plumber...), people like GeoHot are counted in the palm of one hand, and all the researches for a new "CFW" in higher firmwares have recently been dropping, or just simply that the interest is fading due to the PS4 exploit, is not like there is not hackers, is just that considering how hard and head wracking is finding a solution for this, obviously, the interest for a new exploit fades, who knows if someone out there is working day and night in order to release at the last moment a CFW, but since there are no new lights since 5 YEARS! (2011 was around the stages were the CFW was in a semi-good state) when the exploit for PS3 3.55 OFW was released, that means, that the likelihood of someone releasing a CFW for the PS3 (3.56>) is as good as Hykem releasing his IOSU exploit this month.

There is no hope.

Sony properly did ECDSA this time, so the private keys are unavailable, thus no CFW for any systems over 3.55.
Only options are ODE and the one backup/restore trick if you're on a lower FW, and I recommend neither.
