If you know, what are homebrew apps written in, Java? HTML? Python?

My uneducated guess would be C or C++ though.

And while you're here, when I try to run Flappy Bird 3D on my Wii U it crashes. Every time.

I'm not sure what could be causing that...maybe the binary is corrupted?
Are you running it from the system menu or HBL?

HBL. It loads about 9/10 and then crashes the Wii U.

That's weird. If it crashes on HBL,
it doesn't even reach the elf file code, so probably it's a corrupted elf file.

Maybe try to delete it and then reinstall

Could be corrupted aswell. I'm not really sure what could be causing this.

Homebrew launcher's libogc?
What errors are you getting? If they are about type names then it's devkitPPC version
