Here's the story: My 3DS XL notification hinge broke off and I was able to get the thing fixed by Nintendo. Except the hinge broke off again after two years (this year).
The only problem now is:
-My warranty is expired/potentially void
-Nintendo ceased production of original 3DS repairs (I'm NOT buying a New 3DS)
-I have plenty of homebrew and CFW installed
-I do not have a local repair service for the 3DS.
But I have Hourglass9, and backed up my NAND data. Anyway, the main issue with the 3DS hinges is its cheap factory plastic (the one that can't stay stable long enough not to break off have the screen slide off the other hinge (due to its weight). Wouldn't something like a steel shell be a better solution to Nintendo's plastic?

Everyone else can easily replace their shells for pure cosmetic reasons, but I just want my hardware to be stable and close like it's supposed to.
