Hi guys, recently i knew about a project that's been discontinued called Portal 64, which is a reimplementation of the actual Portal game, that uses the same assets and (i think) something of the Source engine. Portal 64, as you can tell by the name, is supposed to run on a Nintendo 64, which perfectly did (until valve took down it). I was wondering if a Source engine port was possible on the Wii, with less functionalities, but still the Source engine, with the capabilities of running games you actually own like Half Life 2 or Portal, like the android port of Source where you can just put your game assets folder and play. If anyone with experience could respond to this question, please answer to this thread! Thanks

Here's how the logic works:

Source engine required -> building Portal 64, running Half Life 2

The arrow isn't reversible, and building and running software are different. Both of those things would have to change for your assumptions to make sense.

To answer your question: it's almost certainly not possible. Source was ported to Xbox 360 (which it was more or less updated for) and PS3 (which was a mess). Wii has less horsepower than either of those, and the people attempting to port it wouldn't be the engine creators, as they did for 360.

Source was also on the original Xbox via Half-Life 2. Though the point still stands. You may be able to get Xash running wich is a recreation of GldSource but not Source no.

Portal 64 doesn't use any code from the source engine, and yes I do think the Wii is capable of running the source engine, although not any of its games.

To answer the question, yes Source Engine is theoricaly possible on Wii since it's a bit more powerful than the Xbox (the Xbox had HL2)

But maybe thedevkit we have for homebrew is too limited to really hav maxxx FPS...
